For more information on hypnosis, relaxation and how we can use a powerful resource that you already have in order to change exams into a more pleasurable experience, then read below.

 What is Hypnosis?

  • Hypnosis is natural.

  • Hypnosis is an experience common to all human beings. (If you have ever been travelling in a car and have realised that you cannot remember the last few miles of the journey, then you were in hypnosis; if you been watching a TV programme that was so absorbing and moving that you lost awareness of the world outside the TV, then you are already familiar with hypnosis; if you have been in conversation with someone, and then found yourself gazing off into the distance, not hearing the conversation any longer – then hypnotic relaxation is something you are already good at).

  • Students are naturally good at hypnotic relaxation, particularly nervous students.

  • Hypnosis applied in a Hypnotic Relaxation Session is entering the hypnotic state with intention, awareness, safety and control.

  • Intended Hypnosis is pure focused relaxation that allows you to take time for yourself to learn to be calm, centred and peaceful.

  • Intended hypnosis gently turns off the conscious, negatively critical part of the mind in order to improve communication with the huge and  immensely powerful sub-conscious mind – it is this part of your mind that can really learn to relax about exams, and become better and better at learning, remembering and recalling. Then these ideas filter back up to the conscious mind.

  • Intended hypnosis utilises the part of the mind responsible for all change – the sub-conscious mind – and so change occurs remarkably quickly.

  • When in Hypnotic Relaxation, you are in control, because all Hypnotic Relaxation is really Self-Hypnosis – someone only enters Hypnotic Relaxation if they want to.

  • Remember that your sub-conscious mind, the wise, intelligent, intuitive part of you that has protected you and taken care of you throughout your life, will only accept suggestions that  benefit you – if your sub-conscious mind likes the suggestions that it hears about exams being more enjoyable and interesting, about how wonderfully calm you can be in the examination room, then it will accept them.

  • Hypnotic Relaxation is always a relaxing, beneficial experience.

  • Everyone, including you can do it.

What happens in a Hypnotic Relaxation Session?

At the first session in the Drama Studio we will spend the first half of the session in open discussion about hypnotic relaxation, hypnosis and what it is really all about – and specifically about how you can use it to change the way you feel and think about exams. Any questions that you may have will be answered during this first half. You will be truly surprised and pleased at what you will learn during this first discussion; I was my first time!

Once we are all ready to experience hypnotic relaxation, and understand how we can use it to prepare for exams I will ask everyone to lie down on the comfortable mats, resting their heads on a comfy small cushion or pillow that each of you will have brought along. I will ask everyone to settle themselves into a really restful and comfortable position whilst I play some gentle music. Then I will simply ask everyone to close their eyes and to listen. Then the adventure begins.
